Abstract

Dependence of Talk Shows on Citizen's Journalism in Addressing the Problems of Egyptian Society and its Relationship to the Public Attitudes towards it.

This study aimed to monitor and analyze how talk show programs address issues in Egyptian society, investigate the motives behind their reliance on citizen journalism, and explore public priorities and interest in the presented issues. It also examined the effects of media coverage on the audience, measuring their exposure, motivations, attention levels, and perception of the realism of the content in talk shows that incorporate citizen journalism, both before and after addressing these societal problems.

The study employed a survey method, both descriptive and analytical, using a sample of talk shows selected after a preliminary exploratory study. Additionally, a purposive field sample of 400 Egyptian individuals from various age groups and diverse socioeconomic and educational backgrounds was surveyed.

The study concluded that:

1-Emphasis on conducting extended research to understand the impact of talk shows especially those on social media platforms on Egyptian audiences, who showed strong interest and influence.

2-The importance of aligning citizen journalism-based content (images, videos) with societal values, traditions, and ethics.

3-Respecting individual privacy and verifying the credibility of information sourced from citizen journalism.

4-A statistically significant correlation was found between audience exposure to talk shows using citizen journalism and their attitudes toward such programs.

5-Audience perceptions were influenced by factors such as level of attention, motivations for watching, perception of realism, and certain demographic variables.
