Abstract

The problem of the study revolves around addressing the phenomenon of divorce initiated by men and the phenomenon of Khul' initiated by women, which leads to the collapse of the family structure, and then stopping at the Saudi press - paper and electronic - addressing these two phenomena, considering that both divorce and Khul' are among the things that Saudi society suffers from, and statistics have proven that the two phenomena exist and are increasing.

The newspapers were chosen: Okaz and Al-Riyadh, paper, and Al-Watan and Al-Sabq, electronic, due to the strength and spread of these newspapers.

The period 2020-2023 was chosen for its novelty and then to know the developments in society regarding the two phenomena and the journalistic coverage of them and the newness in the presentation and ideas.

The study aims to identify the phenomena of Khul’ and divorce and the extent of their presence in Saudi society, and to know whether Khul’, which is the woman’s deliberate payment of sums of money in order to be emancipated from the man, as well as divorce, which is the man’s removal of the wife from his life even at the expense of the children and their loss... to know whether these two phenomena exist... and the position of the Saudi press on this during the research period.
