Media treatment on the websites of Western news agencies directed to Arabs for the Israeli war on Gaza 2023: a comparative analytical study

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the media treatment in the discourse of the websites of Western news agencies directed at the Arabs regarding the Israeli war on Gaza in 2023, to monitor the sources of media coverage. Identifying the frameworks used, the framing mechanisms, the active forces, their characteristics, the roles attributed to them. & revealing the areas of agreement and differences in the frameworks of dealing with the websites of Western news agencies. This study belongs to descriptive research & relied on the analytical survey approach, both quantitative & qualitative. The sample is a deliberate of the websites of news agencies (Sputnik-CNN Arabic), using a comprehensive for news materials during the period from October 7, 2023, until March 31, 2024, & by using a content analysis tool.                         
The study concluded that the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation witnessed a density of news the website of the Russian Sputnik Agency, while the American CNN Arabic website didn’t witness, & the “Bombing of the Baptist Hospital” operation witnessed a density of news Sputnik. While CNN Arabic did not address it, & regarding "Western Countries’ support for Israel", Sputnik’s treatment came in solidarity with the Palestinian issue to reflect Russia’s position, while it was clearly stated in CNN Arabic's treatment, the American position that plans to liquidate the Palestinian cause by expelling them to Egypt & providing unlimited American support to Israel
